Regulation 19 - Proposed Draft Local Plan Submission

1.1

Representation ID: 13053

Received: 02/05/2025

Respondent: GREAT GLEN Parish Council

Legally compliant? Yes

Sound? No

Duty to co-operate? No

Representation Summary:

The Parish Council consider the volume and density of development far exceeds anything which the local infrastructure could meet. Issues regarding health care, education provision and how transport needs will be met in an area already overwhelmed in all regards, must be considered at this draft stage and not left until after adoption. We also strongly oppose the loss of identity as a rural village, and the inevitable blurring of boundaries with Oadby. The local healthcare services are at maximum capacity, there is no more Government funding available, the proposed development could add 20,000 patients to their list.

Change suggested by respondent:

A clear transport infrastructure plan. It has been identified that the arterial A6 route into Leicester is at capacity, people are already forced to use the Gartree Road which is totally unsuitable for volume traffic (B road) and can only be accessed by driving through the centre of the village of Great Glen. The proposed new development both here and Oadby will only increase traffic flow through this restricted corridor.
