Harborough District Council Local List of Non-Designated Heritage Assets

Do you know any additional historical information that could be added to any of the 16 heritage assets?

Representation ID: 8269

Received: 10/08/2021

Respondent: NW Leicestershire District Council

Representation Summary:

Northampton Road Cemetery was not laid out in 1870. The burial board was formed in 1875 (White, 1877) and the cemetery was opened in 1878 (Kelly, 1891). The County Record Office has records relating to Market Harborough Cemetery 1875-2009 (DE8506/333-362). A review of these records may reveal the identities of the surveyor and builder.

Harborough District Council Local List of Non-Designated Heritage Assets

Do you think the initial 16 entries on the list reflect the varied heritage of the Harborough district?

Representation ID: 8270

Received: 10/08/2021

Respondent: NW Leicestershire District Council

Representation Summary:

No. The initial 16 entries do not reflect the breadth of Historic England's listing selection guides. Considering NW Leicestershire's list of local heritage assets, I am surprised that your list does not include any culture and entertainment buildings or any education buildings.

Do you have any further comments?

Representation Summary:

We would not encourage the addition of the 'Carmel' Baptist Chapel to your list, but we would encourage the addition of Waller Bedingfield's house and the Old Rectory at Misterton. We have offered some context in which to consider the special interest of the Northampton Road Cemetery.
