Representation Summary:

Harborough already has considerable expansion proposed within the currently allocated SDA with Business growth areas also allocated. Whilst it may be considered as a Sub regional centre, the integration of these large developments is necessary before further development is proposed so as not to put undue pressure on infrastructure until work is completed. Why is Lutterworth not defined as a sub regional centre - it equally has a good range of shops which could be improved if it were categorised differently.

The need for low cost and affordable housing should be the most important consideration, in order to keep a balance of housing in the district and in individual settlements. Rural villages have a need for low cost housing for young people and for bungalows for people who want to downsize.

The maps supporting this information are very small and the information provided is very sparse. It is therefore very difficult for an outsider to the District Council to make an informed decision. It would however make sense to site housing development close to employment sites to minimise the need for travel out of the district.
